One big problem that comes up with guilds is often there becomes a sorta core team of 8-12 players and everybody else who joins after that kinda gets left out. When everybody knows and chats with everybody but you are the new guy and left out it can feel pretty uncomfortable. You gotta be real outgoing to new members to rope them in.

Edit: But yea, I feel for the OP. I do hate those guys who join and quit a guild within 10 minutes. My guess is, we didn't give them money the instant they joined or having 2 bazillion faction (which a lot of bad/new players think actually means something).

Also, if your guild is filled with scrubs who follow the Self-Esteem Movement (no criticism to anyone! ever!), anyone with a brain will leave as soon as they find out.

I was one of those immediate leavers once but there was actually a reason for it.
My bf and I founded our own guild with some very good friends and I was the only one left playing after a while. Got frustrated from unsuccessful attempts at rebuilding and joined a guild that was into HM PvE like I was. As soon as I joined I felt a huge wave of guilt for abandoning a guild I had helped build up from nothing.
After a few more months of being the only active player I actually left and stayed gone though, lol. I did feel bad for bailing so fast on the guild that invited me though.

Yeah, I don't seem to get the point of faction anymore. I used to think it was cool to own a town, and it is. However, all it does is gives you the ability to set off fireworks and sell to another merchant. Now, with Cavalon and HzH being owned with alliances that have more faction than the US Federal Debt, your only option is to use scrolls.

Ya I agree, why should it be fair for them to quit after they join and shows in the hisory as they quit. I am not saying that everyone shoud be punished. I am simply saying give it a week. Before that time, they should get some type of punishment for joinning and leaving.

beaverlegions, do you think its fair too make guild look bad because they think its funny to join and quit any guild they feel like? Or do you think with reason behind it by introducing some method shape or form to keep people from doing that?

They should lose the 100g that you paid to let them into your guild. Not much as anyone can make 100g easy, but thats just a point.

There isn't a perfect guild, and me being a 2 year old guild and a GW player I understand that. I am not hurt at the fact they left, I am simply speaking for anyone as a guild leader or any guild thats out there that this has happened too.

Case and point said, If people join your guild and see few members, thats a turnoff there, not too mention they look at history and see for an example 8 people left, you think people are going to be positive about that?

Way I see it, it's a form of abuse in the game, maybe not everyone but i would say most.

Now our guild has an application system, and we do what we say, and we even post what we do, and not only that an extensive interview with that person(s) that wants too join.

So with that being said, it's safe to assume that the only reason they would do that sort of thing is to abuse the system. Case and point.

do you mention to them your building. i really doubt it you wouldnt have the people leaving if they knew that your building i get the feeling your guild isn't living up to their expectations. you might be overstating something or not stating something. i seen two guilds that ive been apart of grow from 8 people to twenty one grow from me and one other to active and seen several other die because they didnt be totally honest with people. you may be active but with say 8 people others may not see you active new people dont like signing on and seeing no one. i agree there isnt a perfect guild but there are guilds perfect enough for most

When I got in [LotU] a couple of years ago I got into a guild which had such a core team. I joined up with them a lot, had some fun, chatted a lot, tried to learn from them as much as possible. And after a couple of months I found myself being part of the core team.
I've seen the same happen later with other guildies.

As player you are responsible if you are letting others intimidate you.
Show what you are worth and if that meets expectations you will be accepted soon. But you have to grab every opportunity that enables you to expose yourself. Organise things, help others around, team up as much as possible. In other words: be visible.
When you are as good as you think you are you will be noticed.

But there is one reservation here. That's high end PvE guilds and PvP guilds.
Those people depend a lot on each other for succes.
And it's harder to get into those groups. Because the trust needed for such things isn't there. You really have to work hard in such guilds to get that trust, or you have to be an established relatively well known player.

I don't think that's the problem I was able to pretty quickly able to assimilate with my new guild who's all American whereas im only moving there in August. They actually told me over vent it seems i've been like there for ages because of the way i talk and seem to know everyone.

The problem is the players you recruit, you have got to do due diligence - interview people, talk to them over vent, get to know them - make sure they connect and fit in with the guild, it's pretty hard for them to leave if they like you guys.

Keep the QQ out of this thread please. No one cares about your bad experiences with guilds. Furthermore, this is not the place to air those bad experiences. Truthfully, I should close this thread, since it's mostly complaints anyway.

Nothing more from this point on, or it all gets deleted.
